The FoSJP History Team‘s book “St.James’ Park – From Shirley Rec to Renovation, 1907‑2014” was presented to Southampton City Council and others at a special invitation event in the Mayor’s Reception Room at Southampton Civic Centre.
The Right Worshipful Mayor of Southampton, Councillor Sue Blatchford, unveiled the FoSJP History Research Group‘s Shirley Timeline at an event in St.James’ Park.
FoSJP and ParkLife celebrated the start of the Summer Holidays with a Family Fun Day at St.James’ Park.
An attempt was made to set an official World Record for the most participants in a game of rounders. To accommodate as many people as possible, the event was held atSouthampton Outdoor Sports Centre rather than St.James’ Park. We believe that the record was successfully set, but we’re awaiting official confirmation (which might take several months).
As the Summer neared its end, we organised one final family event before the weather closes in, with a Fun Dog Show at St.James’ Park, attended by over 100 dogs and their humans.
Youth Sports & Games Club Another session of FoSJP’s fortnightly sports and games club for young people aged 6 – 12 years old. This was the last session of this series, which started in October 2014, but we hope to organise similar activities starting in Spring 2016.
