Fun Dog Show – Sunday 27th September 2015

Our first Dog Show in St.James’ Park was a great success!

It was a beautiful sunny day and over 100 dogs of all shapes and sizes turned up with their owners. Rosettes were awarded for 1st to 5th places in each of 7 categories, with Best in Showand Reserve Best chosen from category winners. Dogs and owners were later seen around the Park and Café proudly displaying their rosettes!

The show categories were:

Best Dog Fancy Dress

Best Child Handler

Dog with the Waggiest Tail

Best Pedigree Dog

Best Rescue Dog

Best Puppy (up to 1 year old)

Best Part-Bred Dog

BEST IN SHOW[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The coveted “Best in Show” award went to Archy, a labradoodle owned by the Hallinan Rogers family:[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”3758″ img_size=”” alignment=”center”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]

As well as the Dog Show itself, there were plenty of other activities for visitors to the Park, including:

  • Barbecue
  • Face Painting (for humans!)
  • Old‑fashioned Games
  • Bouncy Castle
  • “Have a Go” Dog Agility Courses
  • Tombola
  • Craft Stalls
  • Book Sale

Cindy Phillips and Becky Klammer did an amazing job of organising the Dog Show which ran very smoothly. All funds raised from dog registration fees have been donated to the Adopt a Bull Terrier Rescue charity; other income from the day has gone towards running further such community events in St.James’ Park.

Dog Show Gallery
Local professional photographer Melanie Grimes took some fantastic photos of the dogs which are available for purchase at the Agent B website – click on the Dog Show Gallery at the bottom. Mel has more photos available, so if you can’t see your dog on the gallery, get in touch with her with a description (and ideally a picture) of your dog and she’ll see whether she can find a photo.

A generous percentage of the price of each photo sold will be donated to FoSJP to help fund further community events in St.James’ Park.

[/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]We received very positive feedback about the whole event from members of the public and local businesses and organisations, such as:

“I just wanted to say a big congratulations on yesterday’s event. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole event. Funnily enough it was our little doggy that won Best Rescue and then also Best Reserve in Show so we were so chuffed. Rusty and his pal that he came with (Ned) had an absolute ball. They loved meeting all the dogs and other like‑minded doggy people and being thoroughly spoilt with treats and pats from everyone. Rusty was like a mini‑celebrity after getting his rosettes and everyone was stopping and stroking him and asking about him and taking his photo. We all really did have a great time and Rusty was pooped afterwards and slept very well!”

“Chris has asked me to reply to your email. Everyone from the surgery that took part at the Dog Show thoroughly enjoyed themselves and said what a well organised show it was. We would be happy to help you with another event in the future if we have enough staff available that day. Please do contact us again when you are holding the next event. We hope the small amount we helped to raise will go towards continuing the great community you have all built at the Park. Our congratulations to the team behind all the hard work organising this great day.”
