Family Fun Day – Saturday 25th July 2015

In lovely sunshine (despite torrential rain the day before and the day after), visitors joined FoSJP and ParkLife for a Family Fun Day at St.James’ Park to celebrate the start of the Summer Holidays!
There were sports activities for all the family, a bouncy castle, a barbecue with Polish sausages, handmade jewellery, book and teddy stalls, and sweet and toy tombolas.
There was a Bike Agility course for all ages and all abilities, with slaloms, mini roundabouts, traffic lights, road signs, seesaws, a limbo rope snake, and ramps.
A range of traditional games such as Hoop‑La, Throw the Wet Sponge, and Higher & Lower proved very popular.
Congratulations to these children who were quickest at the Target Game:
- Julia (11) had many attempts at this game – her quickest time was 10 seconds!
- Will (9) did it in 14.8 seconds!
- Grace (6) did it in 16.01 seconds!
- George (3) did it in 26.93 seconds which was his fastest time!
All children who took part gave it their all and had a fabulous time!
Youth Workers from the Coxford & District Youth Project provided football challenges and ever popular face painting. Music was provided on the Café decking by DJ Nostalgia, and the ParkLife Café was open for refreshments.
The Police Community Support Officers came with a police car – flashing lights and all – which was so popular that we had to jump start the car at the end of the day! The Fire Brigade also turned up and were swamped by children and adults alike.
In total, we raised just over £1000 – this will go towards helping the ParkLife Café to stay open during the winter months and towards putting on more activities and events in St.James’ Park.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column]
