Over the Summer Bank Holiday weekend, the ParkLife Community Room at St.James’ Park was the venue for the first exhibition of a diverse group of 8 local artists, showcasing an exciting range of paintings in varied styles, subjects, and media.

Nearly 500 visitors attended over the 4 days of the exhibition. Over £2100 was taken in sales, including artwork and cards, with about 30 original paintings being sold, greatly exceeding expectations.

Visitors were given slips with which to vote for their favourite painting. It was a close call, with many different “favourites”, but the winner – of a scene in another local park! – is shown below:

Organiser Gill Evans said:

“The Community Room was the perfect size for us, and the clean white walls and skylights made it a beautiful space to show off our paintings. Jennette [the ParkLife Café Manager at that time], was very helpful when we first approached her and very flexible, letting us visit and measure the room as our plans progressed. We had to provide our own stands to display the artworks, but there were tables and chairs available to complete the room set‑up.”

“We all felt this was the perfect location for our exhibition and hope to be able to book it again next year. Many thanks for all the support from the ParkLife Café!”
